WHAT IT'S ABOUT:
Relationships are 99% mindgames... that you play with YOURSELF. I find it breathtakingly easy to talk myself in and out of anything. Multiple times. Within seconds. Gah. This shit was so much easier when I was 20.
WHAT ABOUT IT:
This song was pretty easy to write, but jeez, is it ever hard to play! I had the hardest time figuring out where vocals started and where they stopped and when to play what guitar part, etc. So when tracking it I ended up dropping in all these four-counts, even when the time signature wasn't in four. There's one still in the song, right before the guitar break.
I should make a note that though this song is part of the "5240" series, it is a Half Zaftig recording, not a solo recording. HZ members Pete (drums) and Lizzy (bass) rocked their socks off on this one. Pete mixed this one, too.
lyrics
She's some kind of mystery
Old forgotten history
Never thought I'd get this chance
Improbable circumstance
Now hold on there
It gets stranger
As snow falls down
On fake mangers
What can you do, what can you say
It's fifteen years to the day
Who are you and what have you done...
Just remember this...
Sometimes just makin' out can be fun (sometimes)
Price is right, the price is wrong
Bob Barker won't be 'round long
Wish I could have spun the wheel
Made a bid and kept things real
Funny how once again
I'm jumpin' out my own skin
What can I do, what can I say
I guess I'm put together this way
Who are you, and what have you done with my libido
I still can't believe that I turned you away
I had hoped there could be a way to be together
But if you can't go there
Well, I understand
We pivot on it
We can't avoid it
Will we surrender?
If everything goes the way I want
I'll be spending lots of time with you naked
If everything goes the way I want
I'll be spending all my time with you naked
Who are you, and what have you done with my libido
I still can't believe that I turned you away
I had hoped there could be a way to be together
But if you can't go there
Well, I understand
Just remember this...
Sometimes just makin' out can be fun (sometimes)
